Main Event Studio was honored to partner with Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles to create an original short film for its 2026 Wish Gala, held on October 10, 2026. Freestyle rap artist Harry Mack, 11-year-old singer Isabella Viking, and Rachel Platten, who sang her hit “Fight Song,” all performed at the event, with over 700 guests attending in support of Make-A-Wish and the families it serves. For our team, the most meaningful part of the night was the opportunity to tell the story of Kira and her family.
Our five-minute short film follows 17-year-old Kira, who has a malignant brain tumor, and her emotional journey to be reunited with her grandparents, who live in Russian-occupied Ukraine. Make-A-Wish Greater L.A., with the help of other Make-A-Wish chapters and the U.S. State Department, undertook the extraordinary task of bringing her grandparents to Los Angeles via Moscow to be with their granddaughter. It was a deeply personal story to be trusted with — capturing a family separated by circumstances far beyond their control, and what it meant for them to finally be reunited. When the film ended, there were few dry eyes, especially as Kira and her mother took the stage to say a few words.
We are incredibly proud of the film and grateful to Make-A-Wish Greater L.A. for entrusting Main Event Studio with Kira’s story. Seeing it shared with a room of hundreds of people who had come together to support the work of Make-A-Wish was a truly memorable experience for us. We are honored to have played a small part in such a meaningful evening.
The 2026 Wish Gala raised over $2 million to support Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles and its work granting wishes to children with critical illnesses. Over 500 eligible children in Los Angeles are currently waiting for wishes to be granted. To donate, please visit wish.org/la.
